I am glad to inform our readers and prospective students that our Directorate has opened a Model Distance Center in Allahabad (Sapru Road , Civil Lines) for the benefit of students and our coordinators, in January 2011. On the same day, On-Line education services were launched for students throughout the world, with ultra modern facilites

Addressing the educationists in Kerala, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Scholarship fund of the State Higher Education Council, on January 4, 2010, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced that the Central Government is woring to revolutionize the Higher Education System and make the country one of the premier centers of education in the world.

The attempt to revolutionize higher education in the country is most welcome. In the last two decades, many efforts have been made in this direction, the last one being the appointment of the knowledge Commission, under the Chairmanship of sam pitroda. But lot of water has flown over the Ganga, and the bul of the report, remains unimplemented. The reason is that those who lived in the period and with the attitude of "license raj", cannot implement reforms, neither provide flexibility and autonomy which are the essential flexibility for an "educational revolution" to happen.

Let us hope for the best! In this regard, one has to focus our attention on the large number of students in higher education , who are studying in general colleges in India. They belong to Commerce , Arts & Science streams as well as Business Studies. Any serious effort in this direction will definitely revolutionize higher education in India, and qualified and competent human resources will be available to the world.

If the bulk of students in the age group 18-25, wants to pursue higher education in India, we realize that this is not at all possible, because we have neither the infrastructure, nor adequate human resources, nor we are prepared for it!

In these circumstances, the only solutions available to us is the quality Open and Distance Education System. Are we ready to make the best use of this system in India, or we want to repeat the same mistakes that have been the cause of the dormant state of the higher education? The concept of the Open and Distance Education cannot admit space and time restriction! It is available to all, whatever their age and wherever they may be. But the "license raj" protagonists who want freedom for themselves, place undue restriction, for others. How can the mode of territorial jurisdiction which is followed for state universities, be copied into the DNA of the Open Distance Education?

SHIATS Deemed University is commited to the goal of facilitating and helping thousands of learners and whatever age they may be, to pursue and complete higher education studies.

We welcome all these learners and assure that we will leave no stone unturned, to convert their dream into reality.

Welcome to SHUATS

The Agricultural Institute was established under the leadership of Dr. Sam Higginbottom, in 1910, as an ecumenical Institution of the Christian Churches and Church organizations in India. In order to obtain more academic freedom and to strengthen the specialized programmes of Teaching, Research and Extension a proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India by the Director, Dr. Rajendra B. Lal on the 31st of August 1994, that the Institute be granted the status of a Deemed University. In 1997 a team of experts from ICAR and UGC visited the Institute and gave their recommendation that the Institute be declared as a Deemed University, as it had all the potentials of a University. On the 15th of March 2000, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Honable Minister of HRD, Govt. of India, gave his approval to the recommendations of the UGC.
