Open and distance Education (ODE) has an enormous potential to spread higher education opportunities not only to those who discontinue formal education on acount of economics or social compulsion, but also to young school leavers who are simply unable to secure admission in the formal stream at universities.

However due to inertia of Conventional Education system, Open and Distance Education is not sufficiently recognized as an alternative which provides educational opportunities This is any way does not necessarily means supplementing the conventional Education / Universities but to complement it for achieving the national goal of expanding the opportunities in higher education through the use of technology in ODE. To meet the demands of the market while providing quality education to the largest number, It is an established fact that 'It would not be possible to attain a gross enrollment ratio of 15 percent by 2015 without a massive expansion in ODE'.

Reliable external assessment is valued by employers, students and other stakeholders in the given context of a market driven economy where the law of free entry and free exit prevails and the market reaches its equilibrium by itself. However, to insure the quality of teaching and standard of education, the university has developed on independent quality assurance cell to ensure that the statutory quality compliance are regularly met.

Similarly our vision for open and distance learning includes the study material in open and public domain where the feedback of the student, employing companies, employment agencies are incorporated is developed as a continuous process in the development cycle.

we promote the idea to enable student to continue education across universities. our university has stressed on the transition to a course credit system so that the student are given due credits for the courses completed here simultaneously we facilities their convergence with conventional universities system and the student can join the conventional educational system after completion of eligibility programme.

I am also happy to announce that Directorate has initiated sophisticated scientific training programs (apart from the eSelf Instructional Material Development Team) and extended to counselors, educators and other involve in the delivery chain. They are trained in achieving the effective delivery of content and other interest groups.

I tryst , and pray that LORD JESUS CHRIST will bless our nation with a wealth of knowledge. As we know that knowledge is the power of the people and the power comes from God, i.e. Psalm 62:11 "God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to god."
